For years he has done that with cheesecake and ice cream, but now he has a new tool in his arsenal: cookie dough.
“It’s fun to have a business like this,” said Marc Silverberg, standing behind the counter of his Rock Road shop.
The popular shop has been in Glen Rock for about five years, and before that, in Clifton for about 18.
Since he started serving cookie dough less than a month ago, “every 11- to 13-year-old girl in town has been here,” he joked.
The small storefront was packed after kids were let out from their first day of school this week, he said.
The dough is made without eggs and with heat-treated flour, which makes it safe to eat, he said. The treat comes in cones, cups, whoopee pies and sundaes. He also makes cupcakes filled and frosted with cookie dough, and will soon be serving cakes layered with dough.
So far, the two most popular flavors of cookie dough are chocolate chip and brownie batter, he said. He also serves up flavors such as birthday cake, salted caramel, lemon shortbread, cinnamon bunz, peanut butter and Nutella late.
The dessert is getting rave reviews online.
“Delicious what a new and exciting treat. A must try,” one happy customer wrote on Facebook.
“Seriously AMAZZZZZIINNNGG!!!” another wrote, accompanied by a picture of a cup full of cookie dough.
